University of Oulu

OULU is a multidisciplinary university with 13,000 students and over 3,000 employees located in the north of Finland. The university has eight faculties which range from humanities and medicine to business, science, and technology. The structure of the University and its wide collaboration network allows it to build multidisciplinary projects, conduct high level research and contribute to solving global challenges: 1) Mitigating climate change and safeguarding biodiversity, 2) A resilient and secure society, 3) Digitalisation, artificial intelligence, and data at the service of humanity and 4) Human health and well-being. The action is carried out in the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) in the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE), which is extremely experienced in participating/managing EU and international projects. The research at CWC focuses on radio access and network technologies, signal processing, radio frequency (RF) engineering, antennas and propagation, wireless internet, machine learning and artificial intelligence, and network securit. OULU has received the “HR Excellence in Research” Award.

OULU has a number of high-quality, interdisciplinary infrastructures supporting research. The University is involved in several infrastructure networks selected for national and international research infrastructures roadmaps. The University is also involved in the development of regionally important collaborative infrastructures. The University has 5G test network (5GTN) which encompasses multiple wireless communications technologies in the university campus.
